Vivace Somali Cattery

Our silver program began in 2001 with the importation of 4 cats from Dushara cattery in Denmark. From this sound foundation we have worked to increase the gene pool for silver somalis by outcrossing to silver Abyssinians, tawny Somalis and even tawny Abyssinians. In this way we endeavour to provide a sounder, more diverse population for this beautiful colour. Of course we are also trying to improve type so that silver is just another colour in the Somali and Abyssinian cat - which has not always been the case. Below you can see the current breeding cats in our silver program. Naturally we work towards that holy grail of silver breeding - clarity of colour! In the past few years we have been breeding dilute colours of blue and fawn silver.
